The First Computer Programmer

Ada Lovelace was the only daughter of the prominent British poet George Gordon Byron. She was brought up by her mother who gave her excellent education. Ada was very keen on maths and science. She met a British mathematician called Charles Babbage. Later they became good friends and worked together. It was Babbage who worked on Analytical Engine — a mechanical machine with a kind of memory and thought about the idea of  programming it. Ada soon understood the importance of his project. She realized that it's possible to write programmes for the machine. Unfortunately, it was never built, but despite this, Lovelace's work is considered as the first ever computer programme — basically she invented a computer programme before the computer itself was built.
Ada Lovelace died at the age of \(36\), but her work was an important milestone in the history of technologies. There is a programming language that was named as a tribute to her — Ada.

1. Analytical Engine was built by Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbige.

2. At first Ada didn't belive that Babbage's project is important.

3. Ada was brought up by her father.
