Study some information about questions (general and special) in Past Continuous.
Для образования Past Continuous необходимо использовать вспомогательный глагол to be (варианты was, were) и основной глагол, к которому мы добавляем окончание -ing.
Для построения вопросительных предложений нужно использовать следующий порядок слов.
General question
To be (Was/Were) \(+\) subject \(+\) Ving \(+\) other parts of the sentence?
Was используем для первого и третьего лица единственного числа (I, he, she, it).
Were — в остальных случаях.

Were | they studying? |
Special question
Question word (when, why, how, what...) \(+\) to be (was/were) \(+\) subject \(+\) Ving \(+\) other parts of the sentence?
Examples
What book was she reading the whole evening?
Were they talking on the phone from \(4\) to \(5\) pm yesterday?
